Plant Medicine. Chicken and the Egg.
Three Ways to Crack Open an Egg: A Metaphor for Expansion
There are three ways an egg can be cracked open—each revealing what’s inside, yet each leading to vastly different outcomes.
The first way is when an outside force breaks the shell, spilling its contents out. This is like using plant medicine and chemicals for a mind-opening experience. The egg is cracked, and the inside is revealed—but in a way that can be unpredictable, uncontained, and fleeting. Eating a raw egg can offer nourishment but also carries risk.
The second way is when a skilled chef cracks the egg with intention, transforming it into nourishment—a structured process akin to working with plant medicine under the guidance of a trained professional. Here, the breaking open is deliberate, with integration and purpose woven in.
The third way is when the egg cracks from the inside, as a baby chick hatches into a new world. This can only happen when the time is right, and it leads to transformation from within. The chick grows, creating a continuous cycle of new life and potential. This represents expanding the mind through internal work—using discipline, self-reflection, and conscious growth rather than external substances.
In all three cases, the egg is cracked. In all three, what’s inside is exposed.
But when the opening comes from within, it isn’t just an experience—it’s a transformation. It leads to lasting evolution, self-sustained growth, and an endless potential for new beginnings.
