The Origin of the Soul

Currently, I know three friends (that I am aware of) who were conceived during rape.

Today, one of them said the words, "I am the product of rape."

The phrase struck something deep in me—and I felt an immediate repulsion.

Here’s why.

Rapes happen every day—hundreds of thousands across the globe. It’s a tragedy woven into the dark fabric of human history. But only a fraction of those acts result in conception.

Rape is an act of violence. It is rooted in harm, in the attempt to steal power. But it does not have the power to create life. It doesn’t deserve that credit.

Light does.

When a sperm cell meets an egg, something extraordinary happens. Recent scientific discoveries have revealed that at the exact moment of conception, when the egg accepts the sperm, a literal flash of light is emitted. This isn’t metaphor—it’s real, observable through high-powered microscopes. Zinc atoms burst into radiant light as the egg is fertilized, creating a visible spark—a phenomenon now known as the “zinc spark.”

It’s the moment biology meets miracle.

That flash of light is the divine yes.

It is not the violation that defines you. It is not the act of violence that gives you life. You are not the product of rape. You are the product of Light—literally and cosmically.

You are the soul who chose to enter through that portal anyway. With courage, with intention, with purpose.

Think of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel, where the hand of God reaches out to touch the finger of Adam. That moment—of divine spark, of sacred connection—is etched into art, into history, into the very fabric of our DNA.

We are not cast into this world without consent. We are not accidents. We are not mistakes. Even in the midst of chaos, the soul has its own sovereign will.

You are the product of Light.

You are the one who came through the darkness with a torch in hand.

So shine. Not because of what you've endured—but because of who you are.

And always have been.
