Jump into the Dark

My Grandpa on my Paternal side was Carmal Patton. He went by "Pat" Patton. Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.

He was one of 18 that survived unscathed at Cheneaux, Belgium and also was one of a handful who survived jumping into and behind enemy lines on D-Day.

As a paratrooper, his orders were the same over and over again.

"Attack. Hold until relieved."

As he and his "Brother's" sat in a metal cocoon amid deafening engines and gushing wind, I can't imagine what it would feel like to look around at them knowing this may be the last time you would see each other, the resolve of being part of something bigger, determined to do what they could while they could, and give their lives to make a small difference with no guarantee.

Often, MOST often- they jumped into darkness. Into the middle of the night. Timing their jumps and HOPING they would land close enough together to create a STAND and survive long enough, open the way enough, for their other "brother's"-those who fought in trenches and waded through the mud mixture of dirt, rain and spilled blood to relieve them. Often, Most often... those who came to relieve them came in dragging one another, limping, bruised, battered, and maimed- but moving forward. TRUSTING that 82nd had opened the gateway and their own order "Advance!" could be fulfilled.

Tears fill my eyes in this moment. Thank you Grandpa. Thank you countless others.

I see LIFE this way- similar to their stories and sacrifices.

I see that before we came down here to this Earth, the PRE-Life stuff we stood with our "Soul Family." Observing the state of our world and humanity. People hurting and killing one another.
I believe we looked around the circle and chose together to JUMP.

Jump into the Darkness, not sure if we would see each other ever again- and HOPED that we could survive long enough to make a difference. We would work together to usher in the LIGHT.

Jump in. There are no guarantees. You won't always see where you will land.

"Attack. Hold until relieved."

Our Ancestors and theirs before them, the continual march of Humanity has been calling the Great and Noble Spirits to the Earth. Those from generations before on Earth...Dragging, Limping, Maimed... but TRUSTING in a better tomorrow. Trusting that WE/Humanity can make it. That SOMEDAY we WILL have PEACE on EARTH.

I come from Noble Stock. Those who risked it all for a Chance that the World could change.
I hope to live up to honoring their sacrifices.

Thank you.
