Feeling Full Moon Crazy?

 Full Moon Crazy

I was one of those people for most of my life that judged people like me.

Those who talked about the moon and the cycles of the cosmos, crystals, folklore, magic- etc.

Until, I began looking into the science of it.

The full moon occurs when the full force of the sun is shining upon the moon. This means that the gravitational pull of the SUN and MOON are not being FILTERED by the Earth in between.

A full moon- which is really the SUN and MOON playing tug-of-war gravitationally with our bodies; affects the ocean tides and soil. It PULLS on both.

Often, the soil and earth shifts and raises up to 5 inches in addition to the water of the planet making big waves.

Knowing that we are water and earth; of course, we are feeling the effects of this celestial vying for our energy.

As women, having the “pull’ on our water/blood, activating menstruation or labor and childbirth. Women are carriers of water via the womb and are typically more aware of the full moon because it influences our bodies in different ways than men.

Whether or not we are aware of the very real gravitational draw of the sun and moon during full moon- this physical pressure can create chemical reactions in our bodies. It can create stress which causes our cortisol levels to raise, which then creates a cascade of fight or flight responses in our brain.

If you are feeling a little unlike yourself during full moon; tracking the calendar and following the rhythm of the moon cycles is helpful.

It may seem “Woo Woo” but truly, it’s not. Even, farmers and builders are aware of the difference in the soil and plant and dig accordingly- so as to have successful crops or less shifting of foundations, or post holes.

During the days leading up to full moon, it’s important to take times to “balance” your energy and shift the building up tension that’s occurring.

As a shaman, we look at everything through elements.

Air, Earth, Water, Fire, Spirit.

So with water and earth being manipulated by gravity- some extra fire and air can help.

Exercise and breathing are the easiest ways to do this.

Yoga is great because it can be done at home, regardless of weather.

Going on a walk or jog is great for breath and movement. (fire)

Use fire to burn away old papers or simply write what you are feeling- give it validation and then let the fire refine it, cleanse it and visualize the energy wafting away with the smoke.

Also, get grounded here not out to the cosmos.

Swimming or bathing is a great way to connect to the flow energy and balance your energy.

Go barefoot on grass or soil. Touch your hands to the ground.

My favorite way to move energy during full moon cycle? Orgasm.

Sex is a powerful way to move energy in a delicious ecstatic flow.

Emotionally healthy, mutually consenting sex, orgasm, bonding-Yum.

Most of all, hang in there. This is an opportunity to really see the depths of who you are and experience a deeper sense of the feelings you may be carrying subconsciously that are ready to be healed.

Woo Woo aside; I invite you to become aware of yourself, know what is and isn’t working for you energetically, and to create self-care, self-awareness practices.

These moon cycles are here to teach us and support us in growing our discipline and self-mastery.

For more support how to move through the moon cycles, I have a journal for it.
